14.8.05 23:30 Buying a laptop for my girlfriend ( , , , )

I'm looking for a laptop for my girlfriend. It doesn't need much functionality (word processing, internet, ...). There are some criterias which I use to take my decision:
  • new, not used: on used laptops, you normaly have to buy a new battery. Also you have no warranty...
  • not too old: I want a P-4 minimum, as the laptop is supposed to be used for 3 years
  • it will be used as primary PC, without TFT. So 15' is better than 14.2'
  • WLAN would be good, as she will have (in her new appartment) no other network connection than wireless LAN
  • it should came with Windows XP (yeah, I care about correctly licensed software. No need for Office, as she can use OpenOffice/Thunderbird/Firefox, but as she may use the laptop also in her office, the interoperability is, for non IT people, easier with XP than Linux) but also be able to run Linux (for security issues, I'm too lazy too administer Windows....)
I currently have 2 models left:

HP

Medion

649 Medion

I prefer HP, as I also have one (n800v), and Linux support is very good (including acpi, centrino wlan...). But 256MB is not much memory. Adding 59€ for additional 256MB, the laptop would cost 687€). This is ~40€ more than the Medion).

What do you think? Can you recommend the nx6110 (I know that the display is not such good)?

UPDATE: I bought the nx6110 (1,4GHz), with 512MB RAM. What convinced me was that it is cheap (618€ + 29€ for additional 256MB RAM) and Linux is very well supported (acpi (suspend-to-ram), wlan (broadcom), bluetooth, dual-head, function keys..). I bought it at Home Of Hardware. Don't know them, hopefully the service is quick and without problems.
