12.4.04 12:06 Pretec CompactLAN and OpenZaurus ( , , , )

Zaurus: this is an old problem I had with my Pretec CompactLAN card on OpenZaurus, but as some people asked me for a solution during last weeks, here the solution. It seems that different kind of Pretec CompactLAN cards exist, reporting different identities. You can check the identity of you card by typing "cardtl ident". My card returns "Ethernet CompactLAN 10BaseT 3.3V" (with big B in Base). Other cards return "Ethernet CompactLAN 10baseT 3.3V" (with smal B). OpenZaurus only knows the 'small B' card type. To change it, edit /etc/pcmcia/config, duplicate the CompactLAN entry and change it to 'big B'. Next time you insert the card it should be automatically recognized.
