Linux: now it's official: the real successor of Zaurus SL-5500/5600 will come (SL-C750/C760 are clamshell design), hopefully also to Germany (Trisoft will make it possible). German Heise news site has an article about it. In short:

  • 480x640 pixels, 16bit color deepth
  • Bluetooth and 802.11b-WLAN
  • CompactFlashII and SD/MMC
  • 1500 mAh power
  • optional jacket with additional power and CF slot
  • USB 1.1 host port included (not only in cradle). This means you can plug any supported USB device, for example a large keyboard.
  • microphone and loudspeaker placement allows to use it as IP-mobile phone
  • probably X-scale CPU
  • 64 MB flash ROM, 64 or 128MB RAM

UPDATE:: on zaurus.com board is a discussion about the new Zaurus which brings new information:

  • Sun Java instead of Jeode VM (as C7x0)
  • release date: early January (probably for US)
  • Power and rec button are on the left side
  • screen larger than C760 screen
  • on the fly rotation
  • here are pictures

Btw, Trisoft has some new CF cards:

  • CF-XGA card: display the screen of your Zaurus on television or beamer. It offers S-Video, Composite and 15pol-D-SUB plug. And it includes a remote control :-) . Price unknown.
  • CF Bluetooth adapter. Price: 80
