Search Engines: Lucene and Classifier4J. Both seems very interesting for managing hugh amoun of files and unstructured information, but both need third party tools in order to convert files in text. POI seems to be a good approach for it, but it's still not the high number of format types that commercial system uses. And yes, all this is in Java :-)
