This page contains information and links in German, French and English. Multilinguality and different cultures are important for me. Each culture and language have their own history and fascination, and we should be open to learn from them, independent of religion, skin color, sex, nationality or ethnic origin. I hope being able to write in more languages soon.

Private (and professional) interests
Technical interests:
- Linux:
- My home PC runs Linux since 4 years. At work I use Windows XP, but also run a Debian box
- apt-get: because it's simple
- KDE: my preferred desktop manager
- Bluetooth and Linux
- Linux on PDA/embedded devices:
- My Zaurus runs OE (OpenEmbedded), cross compiling, embedded devices. Read also "Introduction to Embedded Linux Development"
- my Linksys wrt54g router runs Linux
- My "home entertainment system" dbox runs Linux
- Communication:
- jsmsengine: wrote few patches to enable full access on send and received SMS PDU's
- Java Comm: used in my SMS project
- Jetty:
embedded servlet container (servlet API)
- Sniffing (jpcap): I wrote small sniffer for LAN and 802.11 WLAN sniffing
- Java CAPI, ISDN and Java (including Java Sound API, because sound manipulation can be that simple)
- Other:
- Indexing: I used dtSearch for few projects (see also how to use it as file format converter), but will try lucene soon
- jmimemagic: blog entry
- Deployment: WebStart, J2ME
- Java is fast: "ethernal wisdom: The earth is flat. and, not to forget: Java is slow.". I like showing people that Java applications can be very performant. Read: Performance of Java versus C++, Binaries vs. byte code, Java is faster than C++ and C++ sucks unbiased benchmark, Experience in adopting real time Java, Top ten myth about Java IO, Urban performance legence/revisited . Beside of this, I think that every language can be the best depending on the problem.
- Eclipse and all it's plug ins (Visual Editor, UML, Database...)
- Quality: development is method, not coincidence
Sports
- Soccer, twice a week
- Jogging, at least once a week
- Inline skating, not often enough
- Bicycle, 1-2 times a week
- Sometimes climbing, realy not often
